随着中医药在美国的社会需求日益增长,美国政府也逐步表明了对传统医药的态度,学术界和有关企业的研究开发工作已经展开,但是中医药尚未能进入其医药主流市场。为此,应当努力加强中医药的基础研究和技术创新,不断提高产品质量和标准水平,在开拓市场的同时保护好宝贵的中医药资源和知识产权。

With the ever-increasing demand of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in the USA, American government has gradually shown its attitude towards this ethnic medicine and its research and development (R&D) have already started in academic circles and enterprises accordingly. Nevertheless, TCM has not entered into that country's main markets of medicines yet. Therefore more effort should be done to strengthen the basic research and technical innovation of TCM and increasingly inhance the quality and standards of its products, and attention should be paid to the protection of the precious resources and intellectual property right of TCM while exploiting its market.
