The paper discusses the status quo of the endangered medicinal plants in China, and associated research efforts. To protect the resources of traditional Chinese medicines, and advocate for a sustainable utilization, a Systematic Appraisal and Conservation Framework is proposed, with insights, methods, and appraisal indicators.
