针对现今某些学者倡用重剂，本文通过整理薛伯寿教授继承蒲氏学术思想有关谈论阐明中医临床疗效高低，绝非与用药剂量成正比，疗效不可唯剂量论，提高中医临床疗效的关键，首先是理论领悟；其次是医理指导下的辨证立法选方用药；再次遵循经方分量比例也是疗效关键，总量之轻重则应追求适中。此外，提高外感热病疗效关键当融会贯通伤寒、温病和温疫学说。

During the 50 years of clinical practice, Prof. Xue Boshou has followed Dr. Pu Fuzhou's academic thoughts and gained rich experience in treating exogenous febrile diseases, internal diseases, gynecological disease and pediatrics disease, thus regarded as a well -known TCM doctor in CACMS. This paper reviews Prof. Xue Boshou's opinions derived from Dr. Pu Fuzhou's academic thoughts and demonstrates that clinical effect is not proportional to the formula dose; the key point to improve the clinical effect is to understand disease in terms of theories, give a corresponding prescription, and finally follow the proportion of each ingredient according to the classical prescription. In addition, a critical step to improve the clinical effect of exogenous febrile disease is to have a comprehensive theoretical understanding of cold damage, febrile disease, and epidemic disease
