As a part of the inspection in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), face diagnosis is a practicable and informative diagnosis method. It has caught the attention of many scholars from ancient times to the present. Through combing and summarizing the contents of ancient facial diagnosis, this paper amplifies from the perspective of complexion, morphology, and skin lesion distribution. These contents provide a theoretical foundation for the wide application of facial diagnosis in modern clinics. Under this background, this paper discusses the development of various kinds of facial diagnosis equipment with the help of modern technology, which is the future trend of facial diagnosis towards modernization.
