“神”及其相关内容是《内经》理论的重要组成部分，“两精相搏谓之神”，随着人体血气充和、形神合一，本神分藏于五脏形成“五脏神”，即神、魂、魄、意、志。脑为元神之府，主司精神、意识、思维活动神识，脑神与脾胃功能密切相关。脾胃既可化生水谷精微为神识机能提供物质基础，又可调达脏腑升降气机以保证正常的神志活动，共同构成“脾（胃）-脑”神识系统。随着现代学科的不断发展，越来越多的证据揭示了脾（胃）-脑相关理论确有其相应的物质基础，为《内经》“脾（胃）-脑”神识系统提供客观依据，亦为中医脑病的临床诊疗构建科学思路。

Spirit and its related contents are an important part of the theory of Inner Canon of Yellow Emperor. With the integration of human body and spirit, the original spirit is separated and hidden in the five zang-organs to form the “five zang-organs spirits”, including Shen, Hun, Po, Yi and Zhi. The brain is the house of the original spirit, which is mainly responsible for the mind, consciousness and thinking activities. The brain spirit is closely related to the function of the spleen and stomach. The spleen and stomach can not only provide the material foundation for the function of consciousness, but also can adjust the zang-fu Qi activity to ensure the normal mental activities, constituting the “spleen (stomach) - brain” system of consciousness. With the continuous development of modern science, more and more evidences reveal the related theory of spleen (stomach) and brain does have its corresponding material foundation, which provide objective basis for ‘spleen (stomach) -brain’ system of consciousness in Inner Canon of Yellow Emperor, and build scientific thoughts for the clinical diagnosis and treatment of TCM encephalopathy.
